Computer Support TechnicianArkansas State University-Newport The Computer Support Technician will be responsible for assisting in the support of academic and/or administrative computer services.
This position is governed by operating standards, procedures, and institution policy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESo Evaluate, diagnose and correct software/hardware problems.
o Analyze specifications and recommend equipment / services to fulfill specifications.
o Respond to and assist users with questions and concerns relating to hardware, software, and computer stations.
o Deploy and maintain a variety of application software packages.
o Install, configure, and maintain networks, hardware, and software.
o Troubleshoot problems with IT equipment and systems as necessary.
o Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEThe ideal candidate must have an associate of arts with a major in computer applications, computer science, or related field.
Relevant past experience can be substituted for formal education.
Candidate must have one year of prior experience in computer applications or related area.
KNOWLEDGEFor this job, candidate must have knowledge of computer applications, programming, structured programming methods, concepts and standards.
Candidate must have the ability to communicate information of a specialized nature.
COMMUNICATION SKILLSAbility to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos; ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLSAbility to understand and follow instructions; ability to plan and perform work considering new or constantly changing problems, work from broad instruction, and deal with complex factors not easily evaluated.
Decisions require considerable judgement, initiative, and ingenuity in areas where there is little precedent.
CONTACT WITH OTHERSRegular contact with other College employees at all levels within the organization.
Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as with a team structure.
Involves both furnishing and obtaining information from external contacts as well.

Salary & BenefitsThe annual salary for this position is $35,000.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
